BENEFITS
Thermo hygrometric advantages Functionality of ventilated walls The functionality of ventilated walls must be studied in relation to its particular context i.e. environmental conditions, its height, the shape of the building. The presence of the air chamber, the difference in pressure between the external and internal, together with the use of permeable materials, allows water vapor to pass through the walls and to be disposed of, thanks to the converter systems installed in the air chamber. The 'chimney effect' also allows for the quick evaporation of water coming from other component materials of the wall, such as cement. In the summertime ventilated walls constitute an excellent filter of solar radiation; the heat which accumulates on the outside surface is not transmitted to the internal layers, but is dissipated thanks to the 'chimney effect'. The air chamber also creates a discontinuity in wall capillary channels, which prevents water from diffusing into the internal parts of the building. ![]() click to enlarge |
